Project 365 in 2015

With the creation of the Project Life App for iPhone by Becky Higgins and the 365 Photo App I am ready to start 2015 off with a bang.  This is going to get me to take a picture everyday and document my life and my family's life every week.  Add in a few special trips in 2015 and I shall have an amazing year documented and shared.  Starting January 1st I shall post my photo a day on here as well as a little blurb about it and at the end of the week my pictures will be placed into the project life app and shared on here as well.  This is my New Year's resolution to myself and everyone in my life.  Good-bye 2014, Hello to an amazing 2015!!

Week Nine Project Life

Week nine was a bit more exciting.  We decorated for Christmas and celebrated my birthday on Thanksgiving with my family.  It was nice to spend a holiday with my family.  First one in 2014 that my Mom was out of the hospital and able to actually enjoy.

Week Eight

Another boring week in the Cole Household. There was a dinner at Todaros party Center for the New Market District store so went to that.  It was an interesting party.  Other then that life was rather slow and easy when we weren't working or going to school.

Week Seven

Such a boring week in the Cole Household. Between work and school there wasn't much time for anything else in our house.  Pics are just random ones from the week.

Week Six

Here I am again posting another week.  I am so far behind in our story but Becky Higgins' Project Life App for iPhone is just phenomenal and makes it quick and easy to get caught up.  This week was a week of emotional roller coaster rides for me.  I was up and down and upside down way too much.  Spent some time with Edward watching The Knick.

Week Five

I am so far behind in my blog posts and Project Life pages but I'm going to get caught up tonight.  I am actually working on a few weeks worth of layouts at the moment but I figured I had better do some blogging tonight as well.  Here is my Peoject Life App layout for Week five. It's photos of us having quality family time at one of our local hiking trails.  This one isn't as colourful as the Nature Realm but it was an interesting one to hike.

Project Life... The adventure continues

Normally while I am on vacation this week I am in my craft area working on my Christmas cards... Well this year I have decided that the Christmas cards were just not in the cards for this week.. I have no creative drive when it comes to them and lately I feel that they are a waste of my time.  I spend days upon days crafting these cards then I mail them out only to never receive a thank you or a card in reply.   I will of course create a few for the special people in my life who appreciate my hard work.  Lately I have wanted to do the scrapbooking again and with the help of the new Becky Higgins Project Life App for the iPhone I have been able to do just that.. I am on week five of our new album and will be printing them out probably mid way through and then the end of the year.  My daughter-in-law Renee has two babies... Now 7 and 4 and she said she hasn't even completed the first year of the youngest's life so I spoke to her on the phone today and asked her if I created a set of project life cards for her if it would help catch her up.  She was intrigued and kind of laughed when I told her she could get caught up in about a day with this system. So I am going to spend the rest of my vacation designing and creating project life filler and journaling cards for her for Christmas.  Doesn't seem like much but hand made anything especially in the large set I am intending to do is a lot of time and resources.  I want to create a set of cards for every major holiday as well as milestones for the year.  The idea hit me rather late this evening so I will start her present tomorrow.  I will  get back to blogging with this and post my creations for her as well as my own project life layouts as I create them each week.

Week four of project life.

Not a very exciting week.  Mostly just pictures of the fur babies.  Hopefully week 5 will be a bit more exciting. It's after all Halloween week and the weather is supposed to be lovely and I'm on vacation all week.

This week has been full of pictures so far, and still possibly a lot more to come so I thought I would post a bit of mid week Autumn inspiration....

Week Two Cole Family

Week two of our boring life :) not much going on in our world this past week.  Between work and sleep there was not much time left for anything else.

Cole Family week 1

So excited for my all out attempt to do project life.  The pictures in it are just random ones from the week and a bit of visual for the story.  I'm having a lot of fun doing this and the Project Life App for the iPhone is just awesome.  Took me no time at all to put in pictures and cards and write the week in review.

Thank you for stopping by.

Cole Family A Year In The Life!

I did it! I started the project life program by Becky Higgins.  I am going to use her #projectlifeapp to document a year in the life of my family.  The first page is the most important.  It is the title page and shows what we are all about in this family.  Luckily I had the perfect photo to show my crazy family.  It was a photo from the KISS concert in 2010.  It was a time of starting over for our family and so that picture is appropriate for this page.

Project life and my book of me......

I used to be an avid scrapbooker.  My daughter who is 13 now had about 10 scrapbooks before she was even 10.  I bought every little gadget, gizmo, embellishment, paper, etc that was out there and the in thing at the time.  Needless to say I was always broke from the amount of money I spent.   About 3 years ago I got the cardmaking and stamping bug and decided no more scrapbooks.  I had all the supplies I needed but then decided about a year ago that I wanted to advance further and use Copics etc to make my stamped images pop.. Well I weighted my options and went with the Spectrum Noir Markers and then pencil sets.  I have all and I am in love with both, but I find myself using the pencils more often then not.  Well I have heard and seen all this mumbo jumbo on Project Life and wondered what it was all about... Well it was a system that I liked but had no desire to sink money into.  I have paper coming out of my ears as well as embellishments etc, and a QK SIlhouette that allows for die cutting etc, so I felt investing the money into this new system was way too much on my tiny little crafting budget.  Well I was signed up for the Becky Higgins page etc on Facebook as well as her blog and low and behold... Project life iphone app!  Just up my alley.  The minute I downloaded it and started to play I was addicted.  I ordered a few of the extra sets of layouts and cards and have managed to start a book of me which when done I will print out and place in an 8x8 album.  Now that I have my BOM in mind and started I am looking in to the whole project life idea. I haven't taken pictures on my digital camera in forever.  I tend to use my iphone more, but I am heading to Orlando Florida in March for a much needed vacation with friends and I plan on taking my camera with me.  Between my phone and my camera and my friends I imagine that I will have an album done by the end of the trip.  Here are just a few pages that I have done using the Project Life App by Becky Higgins......

Title Page Book of Me.

Birth page Book of Me

School page Book of Me

I know the android version is not out yet, but if you have an Iphone and want to start doing this then now is the time.  Without this little app, I would still be sitting here thinking about that Book of Me like I have been for about 10 years now.

KISS Album

I haven't wanted to scrapbook in a very long time.  The last one I did was for the KISS concert we took my then 9 year old daughter to four years ago.  In looking forward to getting back into it once more and I am hoping that my Spring trip to Universal Studios will get me back into it.

Happy Birthday Master!

From the moment I saw this digital stamp from The Stamping Chef I knew exactly who this was for.  My good friend John's birthday is coming up in October and we have a little joke between us concerning 50 Shades of Grey.   When I saw this stamp I ordered it right away and practiced up some colouring.  This image I used the Spectrum Noir Coloured Pencils.  There are 5 sets in varying shades so highlites and lowlites are easily achieved and they blend well together or over the Spectrum Noir markers.  I didn't want to place the uncensored image on here because I am entering it in the Stampin Chef's challenge on their blog.  The name of this image is 50 Shades Of Smexy.

Christmas is coming...

Yes yes I know... It's only mid August and I am babbling about Christmas.  It's one of my issues... I am not a Christmas person. I love the lights and the music but I just can not get into the spirit.  So in order to get my cards made I have to start now or they won't be done in time.  So today I took one of my images that I coloured a few months back while working on sepia tones and places it on a card.  Well it has gotten me into the spirit and I am eager to make more.

My life in a whirlwind!

Wow!  This Summer has flown by in such a whirlwind.  I am still shocked that it is mid August already and I am buying back to school supplies for my daughter and dreading the 5:30AM alarm clocks that will be going off Monday-Friday again.  So much has happened in this short summer that I can't even wrap my head around it all.  On June 1st I transferred to a store within the company I work for 5 minutes from my house and I have managed to go from just a cashier there once more to a coordinator again.  I only do it when others are on vacation, but it is a nice change of pace and my arms thank me for it.  Friday a friend I met on World of Warcraft invited a group of us down in 2015 for a WoW get together.  She is building a new house in Florida about 10 miles from the beach and Disney and Universal, so I asked my husband if he cared if I went.. To my surprise he said no.  So early March I will be hopping into a rental car with John and heading for a week in sunny Florida with the guys/gals of WoW!  I am super excited.. So much to do before then.  I need to hit the gym again, find a new swim suit, go shopping for some new clothes, and save up some spending money.  We are going to hit Universal Studios this time around and the Beach.  Let's not forget the holidays just around the corner..  have so many cards to make, but just can't get into the creative mood.  I haven't even felt like practicing my colouring with Kit and Clowder.  I have Spectrum Noir pencils to master as well as Spectrum Noir markers.  So much work to do.  With me working 5 days a week 30+ hours a week and at weird times I am finding it hard to find the time or energy to practice.  Right now, I am in my craft room blogging instead of working on cards.  I also have a lot on my mind that keeps me tense and stressed most of my day.  My mom who has been in and out of the hospital since early February has once again taken a turn for the worse.  If my Dad had not called the paramedics when he did they told him she would most likely not be here now.  How heart wrenching is that.  I am ok until the business stops and I lay down to sleep then the tears I am holding back fall and I cry myself to sleep.

Wedding of the century!

Forget Will and Kate! Paige Bedlion and David Allen exchanged vows on Saturday 21, June 2014... The ceremony was a simple Catholic ceremony but was stunning none the less.. Paige is an amazing girl.. Her parents raised her with amazing skill and she grew into a gorgeous young lady. Not only is she super model stunning, but all of it is natural and comes from the beauty that this girl possess inside. I was in tears when she told me that she had invited me and I was honoured to share in her big day. I sat down and after much thought I decided to go with a simple card that showed her faith in God and that of her future Husband's faith. He converted to Catholism for her and it amazes me of the shear love and devotion it takes to do that for someone. When I designed her card I felt that Precious Moments and a traditional Bible verse would be appropriate, but when the image was done... I felt it needed something more.. Thus off to the craft store I went and found the perfect paper and some simple yet beautiful crosses that I hung on a heart chain from the bow. After collecting all the pieces I assembled the card and thanks to a very ornery cat.. the bow on the front ended up not being a bow but a puff, but it still went well and still pulled it all together. At the reception I went over to look at her cake.. It was simple... White cake with black ribbon around the bottom of each layer then decorated with rows of purple roses. The cake topper... Precious Moments... Imagine the look on my face when the colours and image of her card went with her cake perfectly.

I won!

I am super excited! Alyce from Kit and Clowder was offering a chance for someone to win their new Clothing class! I signed up for a chance to win and found out this morning that I indeed won! http://kitandclowder.ning.com/clothing I am looking forward to this amazing class.. My colouring skills with my Spectrum Noir markers is still a bit on the iffy side and I struggle with pleats and folds especially. Just waiting on the information on how to get into the class so I can download all of the booklets and begin to experiment with her techniques!

Update

So much going on.. Been awhile since I have been able to post anything. I started my Etsy shop. No bites so far, but it didn't hurt to try. I have been practicing almost daily with my Spectrum Noir markers trying to advance from my newbie state. I have experimented with Sepia and colouring shear fabric and shear wings. Saturated Canary and Magnolia have been my stamps of choice for practicing these new techniques. I am also getting ready to end my work days at one store and start a whole new career at another within the same company but one that is 5 minutes from home as opposed to 45 minutes. I am going to miss so many people but I also know that starting this new path is where I need to be for me. There is so much drama and angst at my old store and moving to a new store is a breath of fresh air. I have worked there off and on for the past three weeks and I have loved every minute of my time there. It didn't seem like a choir to go in and work 8 hours and then come home. So tomorrow I am off yet again and the Hubby is working about 6 hours mid day tomorrow so I am going to bury myself into a new project I am working on. I have several birthdays coming up in the next few months and I need to get some cards done for those as well as think and I do mean think about the coming holidays and decide on some card designs for those as well. I know I seem to be rushing the year along, but I am eager for summer to get started and over with so I can enjoy my fall getaway to Amish Country in Berlin, Ohio. That is my goal.. To get through this summer and enjoy my last vacation of the year with friends.

Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime collection, Core'dinations card stock, embellish from my stash and a digital image I purchased.

Stepping it up!

I am a cardmaker.  I started out scrapbooking my newborn 13 years ago and about 3 years or so ago I got the cardmaking bug... I haven't scrapped a layout really since.  Well I have always loved the outside of my cards, but the inside lacked a bit of luster and I never knew quite what to do with the inside.  I didn't want to make the inside plain any longer and was looking for ideas on how to take the from plain to works of art.  Well while browsing various card making sites and blogs and other social media outlets I came across a phenomenal lady.  Her cards outshine anything I have ever seen and she gave me so much inspiration.  The best part... Her inside of her cards was just the idea I was looking for... Bev! If you ever get hours upon hours of time... browse her blog.  Her cards are simply.... STUNNING beyond words.  I want to thank her for inspiring me on how to take the inside of my card and make it look like an extension of the outside.  With that said I have assembled three cards today alone... Well they are not complete as I need to colour the images with my Spectrum Noir markers and then embellish if need be.  When those are done I am taking another step... A rather scary step for me but one that came to me while a friend and I were discussing a video game that my daughter bought and was never returned for credit.. He offered to post it on Ebay for me... With that said... I am going to create cards for him to post on EBay and we will share in the profits.  He can use his money for whatever... Me... Well one can never have enough pretty things to run her hands through and create with :)

Have a groovey birthday!

My daughter Judy made this cake for my youngest daughters 13th birthday.  She wanted to make the cake, I bough the stuff and texted her a picture of the decorations and this is the picture she sent me... I could cry it is so amazing! And to top it all off... It has me full of scrapbook layout ideas for a 13th birthday album.  I know to many that isn't something to be excited about , but since I haven't done an actual page in 4 years... It's monumental.  I am on vacation this week I have all the paper  and supplies and I am going to probably spend the week putting the pages together and waiting for the pics to put on them.
